Cacao Date Balls
I've been making these things like they're going out of fashion lately. It's becoming a bit of a weekend ritual which is always accompanied by a roll of the eyes and a groan from Blake. While he won't say no to a nut ball or two he has developed a bit of a hate relationship with cleaning the food processor afterwards. He is the dishman in our household, my baking = more mess for him to clean up, and he just flat out dislikes the food processor.
These are so quick and easy to make (blitz, roll, toss), not to mention healthy and have gotten me through many a 2.00pm need for something sweet. What I love the most about them is that you can add whatever other bits and bobs you come across in the cupboard too so nothing ever gets wasted. Random jar of poppy seeds in the back of the cupboard, toss some of those in! Lonely crushed nuts leftover from Christmas baking, pop those in too! You can also substitute whatever nuts you like. My personal fave nut combo for this recipe are almonds and macadamias (or macca's as Blake likes to call them). The recipe I use is from the Jetta's Nest blog.
Do you have any weekend baking rituals?
Have a happy Friday x

ReplyDeleteOoooh.....they sound very gourmet! I wonder if I have any dried figs lurking in the back of my cupboard? Happy Friday x
DeleteHi Melinda, just want to thank you for posting this - I have made them, and I'm addicted (not sure if that's a good or bad thing?!)
ReplyDeleteHi Kylie. I'm so glad you liked them. Their addictive. I'm all out, so I must make some more or I'll start raiding the cookie jar. Have a happy week. Melinda x
