{he's all kinds of amazing}

I'm writing this post as a reminder to myself of what a great guy I have on my hands. It's kind of sad that I need to write it down, but sometimes, with all of life's ups and downs, it's easy to forget how good life actually is.

For the past week while I've been resting 'post surgery' Blake has single handedly done all of the washing (minus the folding), all of the cleaning (dishes, floors, bathrooms etc), cared for, fed and bathed Millie and generally organised all of us the best that he could. And most admirable of all, he hasn't complained once, no 'poor me', no 'when do you think you'll be better', not a word, and good golly I love him for that.

So fingers crossed for a quick recovery from here so I can get back to sharing the load.

Happy days to you!

P.S. The photo above was taken when Millie was about seven months old. It's one of my favourites of her and Blake.

Lovin' the little things.....

{the Easter edition}

After some minor surgery to remove a cyst from one of my ovaries last week our long Easter weekend ended up being a relatively quiet one (for me anyway). For us, Easter is all about spending time with family, sharing a lovely long lunch home cooked by my Mum and brother. While I wasn't quite up to it this year, Blake and Millie enjoyed the festivities and my beloved Mum delivered my meal to our door - bless her heart. It was delicious, and just what the doctor ordered.

1. A little DIY table centrepiece. Foam eggs covered in washi tape. It doesn't get much easier than that.
2. I made Millie a linen bunny for Easter. I used the floral fabric in the photo to make a gathered skirt and a thrifted doily to make a lace collar. If you follow me on instagram you would have seen a photo of the finished product (@mooseandbird).
3. Part of my 'home delivered' Easter Sunday lunch. Eton Mess with Rhubarb, Strawberries, Raspberry Coulis and Toasted Almonds. The main meal was Lemon Roasted Chicken, Sweet Potato Wedges and a Pea, Bacon & Haloumi Warm Salad. It was the best lunch I've had in a long time.
4. Roses from our garden, a welcome addition to our kitchen bench.
5. My Mum made Millie this crochet Daisy Chain Necklace for Easter. She used the pattern kindly shared over on the Her Library Adventures blog. Handmade gifts are by far the best gifts of all.
6. Cute Easter packaging!

I trust your Easter was filled with sweet treats and loved ones.

Happy days to you!

'A portrait of Millie, once a week, every week, in 2014'

Millie: Late last Sunday afternoon while I was preparing meals and snacks for the week ahead, you and Daddy went to explore the beautiful gardens of the old church grounds at Mt Mee. If you and Daddy go out, just the two of you, this is where you always go. You love the flowers and the freedom and he loves the drive.

I hope your Easter long weekend was a lovely one, however you chose to spend it.

Happy days to you!

'A portrait of Millie, once a week, every week, in 2014'

Millie: a very rare photo of the two of us enjoying our first joint cooking adventure. Banana pikelets! I can see many more of these adventures happening in our future.

Millie: Over the past few weeks she's taken a liking to all things 'pink'. Pink beads, pink clothes, pink shoes, pink plates, pink cups. If it's pink it's bound to make her gasp.
